We are pretty lucky to have the four seasons in Canberra and where I live in Wamboin NSW. I am looking forward to heading back to paint at the beautiful Lake George Winery. It has the most spectacular views and it just happens to be where I will be hosting my second and continued touring solo exhibition ‘Valleys Views and Vines ‘ 29 October 2022 – 29 January 2023.
If you get a chance to visit the Lake George Winery, for work or for pleasure, don’t forget besides the great selection of wines there is the most fabulous restaurant, the ‘Westering‘. If you spend any time there you will also find on display my exhibition ‘Valleys Views and Vines’ in the ground floor Cellar Door Gallery.

If you haven’t visited the Lake George Winery and or tasted the amazing food and wines at the Westering Restaurant, I highly recommend you check it out. The winery is only a short 30 minute drive north of Canberra. It is one of my all time favourite places to dine as the restaurant has large glass windows and an open air veranda facing the vines which span the property. You can stay there as well. They have several tiny houses which again look over vines and the famous millions of years old Lake George. It is a particularly scenic winery and the owners and staff in the restaurant and cellar door are very professional and friendly. You immediately get that sense of the Australian Country welcome when you arrive.
I must say, Lake George has never looked so full and magical. This expansive and mysterious lake is 25 km long and 10km wide, and right now it is full of water and there are many birds visiting the lake. My friend and the owner of Lake George Winery, Sarah McDougall, shared with me that the indigenous people of the region named the lake, ‘lake Werriwa‘ which in one dialect means ‘dangerous waters’ and in another ‘place of many birds’. I will never forget this fact, as when I was painting the Lake a few months ago, I witnessed a large flock of pelicans settled on the shores, along with a few black swans and wild ducks. It was so memorable that I included a large painting of the pelicans on the shimmering lake in my traveling ‘Valleys Views and Vines’ solo exhibition at the Lake George Winery gallery.
Hope to see you there!
